How to Access BPIS data from Internal Open Data Platform

Overview

BPIS (Building Permit Inspection Service) records have been migrated to Internal Open Data Portal for easier accessibility and for the eventual archiving of City Intranet's BPIS. Below is instructions on how to access the dataset.

Instructions

  1. Login into your Internal Open Data account at Internal | Open Data Buffalo

    Note: If you have not signed into Open Data Portal before or you are in need of an internal account please see Article - Login Instructions for City...
     
  2. Once logged in, using the search bar at the top type in "BPIS" (it is not case sensitive) and one of two drop-down options will appear. 'BPIS - Building Permits' and 'BPIS - Inspections'. Alternatively, pressing 'enter' will redirect you to the Assets Catalog where it will list those datasets.

  3. From there click on either of the datasets you require and it will redirect you the the about potion of the data it shows all the metadata pertaining to the dataset. Here you have access to additional features such as exporting the data to a CSV or Excel file, interacting with the data to filter specific information or create visuals using the 'Action' drop-down button, and more.

  4. You now know how to access BPIS data on Internal Open Data Portal! If you are new to Open Data Buffalo and need additional help utilizing the different features on the platform or need additional assistance accessing the data please reach out to the Open Data Team via email.
